Overview
After the first 32-team Club World Cup in the United States in 2025 (won by Chelsea), the next edition is due in mid-2029. FIFA has not yet named the host. Reported candidates include Australia (possibly with New Zealand), Brazil, England, Germany, Mexico, Qatar, the United States and a joint Spain–Portugal–Morocco bid, which has been widely reported as the frontrunner.
Qualification runs across the four seasons from 2024–25 to 2027–28 through continental championships and a ranking pathway. Seven clubs are already in: Paris Saint-Germain (Champions League 2024–25 and 2025–26), Flamengo (Copa Libertadores 2025), Al-Ahli (AFC Champions League Elite 2024–25 and 2025–26), Pyramids (CAF Champions League 2024–25), Mamelodi Sundowns (CAF Champions League 2025–26), Cruz Azul (CONCACAF Champions Cup 2025) and Toluca (CONCACAF Champions Cup 2026).

- 32 clubs in eight groups of four; top two into a Round of 16, then quarter-finals, semi-finals and final — no third-place match.
- Slot allocation is expected to follow 2025: UEFA 12, CONMEBOL 6, AFC 4, CAF 4, CONCACAF 4, OFC 1, host 1.
